An oily sunday evening

Some progress on the skyhawk finally... got a nice new fine brush and did some fine work on the cockpit.
It never fails to amaze me how a seemingly random blob of paint starts to look like something. Check out the rear seat!

Beery good...

Brett & I thought we might combine drawing with beer tasting. Today's beer was Wychwwood's Hobgobblin, supplied by Brett - my turn next week. We thought we'd add three NZ cheeses - Kaimai Crumbly Blue, Karikaas Maasdam & Te Mata Camembert to the tasting. Complimenting the food in the background were Helen Henderson ("Twisting Winds"), Los Incas ("Voice of the Ancestors") and Bob Dylan ("Modern Times"). The beer was surprisingly strong, even just a single glass, and surprisingly morish. The Camembert was wonderfully smooth and the Kaimai was creamy rather than crumbly, but with a very pleasant taste.

And, yes, we did manage to draw, quite successfully (hic). Then, moments after we finished, the heavens opened & down came the rain accompanied by thunder & lightning. I had thought I might continue drawing after Brett had gone, but the light had gone as well.

So, progress as follows:

Just a floosie...

I seem to have caught a Summer (huh!) flu - sore throat, constant (& painful coughing - should be coffee-ing, but never mind)... I won't go into all the gory details. Texted Brett this morning to cancel our session - I just didn't feel like sharing it with him. But I did do some drawing...

And I  (Brett) stayed at home doing penal servitude gardening!! But I did manage3/4 of an hour in the evening to progress the Metalman. This is a late at night interior shot and is thus a tad dark.. The car is actually brighter than this in the flesh. Doesnt Warwicks train look great? Thats a seller for sure!

Amidst disaster there is peace

First Christchurch, now Sendai. Let's hope the conspiracy theorists don't hear about them...

Brett has continued his commission - lots of potential sales with this - the owner and all the sponsors. And he gets to sell the original...

And I'm still working on the ET...

Won't post? Can't post!

My PC decided to throw a hissy fit. Well, actually, the PC manufacturer upgraded their support software which required a later release of Windows. So I decided to bite the bullet & upgrade to SP3 for XP. But the download required IE8. Then Firefox jumped in to suggest their latest build. Followed by a Java update. Finally, Apple, not to be outdone, decided to release another version of iTunes. All at the same time. So, some days later I got a 'workable' PC back EXCEPT that my wireless device is now playing up AND MS have reset all my preferences back to their defaults. [screams].

A couple of pictures of the creative boys at work. First, Brett is pondering just how many colours he's actually used

followed by Warwick busily beavering away at the ET ("how hard can it be - it's just yellow").

well if Warwick won't post..

Ill have to...

Finished the Hulme McLaren M6a (yes its an M6a) on Sunday morning while Warwick toiled away on his ET.
We found some nice new tools too from a Coloured pencil workshop DVD.. a pencil extender (sounds simple but very useful) and a kneading rubber (sorry.. eraser!) - Wollocks might show them in his next post?

and started a new commission. A modern car which uses an old body.. The Metalman Mk1 Escort ... with Nissan V6 power! man, talk about sponsors decals... this is going to be tricky!
