Old Habits

Brett brought around a can of Morland's Old Speckled Hen and some Dutch Moulin cheese. I dug out some Talbot Forest Ementaler and a Whitestone Windsor Blue. And so passed another excellent morning's effort although Brett finished early.

The Chevron is all but finished...

and the DSG is entering it's blue period...

Some day my prints will come...

Phew. Bit of a successful week. Brett has sent off a shipment of prints to the Airforce Museum in Christchurch plus he's made a couple of sales in the States & Europe & I've managed to sell five Locomotive prints.

Rust never sleeps

It seems that both Brett and I have been extending our range of colours - we both have purchased more Derwent pencils - a selection of earth tones for Brett and orange reds (rust) for me.

Sunday was a very productive day. Brett has nearly finished most of the white areas on the Chevron drawing:

and I have completed 'Cyclops':

and started on DSG3059...

The Boys are back in town

After a break of nearly two weeks, we're back at it - heads down, exhausts up. I have discovered that Brett is developing a taste for cold coffee (once the glasses are off & there's a pencil in his hand, even coffee blends into the background) and Baker Boy Apricot Yoghurt biscuits - I nearly lost my fingers as Brett grabbed the last one.

Brett has started crafting Brian Redman's Formula Pacific Chevron...

and Cyclops is almost finished:

and something for me...

something a little more prosaic, maybe, but also very detailed (and it unfolds like the real thing) - a 1:18 diecast BMW E93 M3 Cabriolet by Kyosho...

what I spent the proceeds on...

Latest model car
1:18 diecast exoto GT40 MkIV Hulme / Ruby 1967 LeMans
Frickin superb model... unbelievable detail!!

Up up and away

well Warwick upped sticks and went away for a deserved 7 days leave and I finished (finally) my mustang shown high up and away over some purpled clouds.

This was a tricky item... the plane itself is simple coloured pencil and was no trouble... but the background!! I wanted a simple cloud base and initially used coloured pencil but then added some acrylic white paint. This reacted with the pencil and I had PINK clouds.. So I overpainted it THREE times with white to get a nice base and then painted the purple grey clouds. I think they came out well and complement the reds and blues of the plane. (the image here shows them much too purpled!! bad scan... they are actually a deeper darker hue.) But maybe you get the idea. Landscape backgrounds are where I need to concentrate!
