Been spending about an hour and a half each night this week in the studio and finally finshed it tonight. well I think its finished...
It was supposed to be a quickie so no background just the impression of a track under the car.. Enjoyable doing the splash of color of his helmet!
Nice wee A4 pic... now... whats next!

Tyred out!

Just had the last 4 days off (Sat - Tues) BUT I was house painting mainly, and chainsawing, and mowing...
So had very little (read NO) time to draw.. But today it rained, Hooray! so I spent an exhausting 2 hours working on the right front Tyre of Fangio's mercedes. So detailed... so tiny...
But pleased with the result..

wasnt Season 3 of Sherlock gripping?!  cant wait for more.. and I see Warwick is back selling Trains on trademe.. more power to him (more steam to him?). Have sold 3 prints to the US and 1 to Germany in the last week... love those USD sales.  Back to work termorra...

Fangio

for some weird reason I decided to do a quick small sketch of Fangio. The attitude of the car just grabbed me I guess. It will be colourised but for now, as usual, Im blacking in the wheels and shadows. As you can see from the ruler its really only an A4 size!

Oh yeah and check out the Christmas presents. I think I did say id be getting a Lamborghini!
Heh... I got two!  both 1/14th scale, and both R/C. Wonder if Ill ever open the boxes?

porsche signed sealed and scanned..

End of the hols and just in time I've completed this painting.
For the trainspotters this is the car that won the 1971 Le Mans race, the short tail white No. 22 Martini of Helmut Marko and Gijs van Lennep.

I love the composition with that long straight behind the car but it makes for a long thin print best shown in portrait mode.
I mainly used black, white and grey but coloured the Martini stripes which I think really makes the car stand out!.

This is a pic of the framed final pic. I found a nice long thin warehouse frame and used that. I think it complements it just fine. Its 61 cm x 31 cm and prints are definitely available!!

Shaken not stirred

Ive been working away at it (between painting the house!! the REAL house!) and I think Im falling into the trap of never being satisfied and more is actually less... Pretty near done now tho... just touching up detail with a real fine brush.. car is 98% there but the road and fence needs some attention. I tried glazing the windscreen and lights a couple days ago but it went too milky white so that needed a repaint... siigh..
(hence the title as I really shook AND stirred that stuff!)
3 days left of the vacation so one way or the other its going to be done by sunday! :)

I have had contact from Warwick and I hear he's doing a portrait. Be great to see progress on that one day.
