And here was me thinking that a silver car would be a doddle... I didn't realise the 240Z had so many chromium strips and reflective surfaces. There's just on 5 hours work between this scan and the previous one and probably that many layers of warm & cold greys. Still, progress is progress. Somehow it's not the same drawing on one's own.

mashup beach
well seems like the commissioner has some reservations about the central figure (which is supposed to represent himself) and I cant say I blame him... It was a bit skewed to fit!
So he suggested simply putting his black and white photo into the painting.
and yes thats possible from the scan for a print but what to do with the painting?
I suggested painting in the photo, suitably colorised and then scan and give him the option of the real photo. All good and lucky I chose paints for this one as a repaint of one area isnt too hard.
This is a rough montage of what is now required.
Similar but much better! The angle of the RH arm is more aligned with the tree and the chap in the background. No worries, the commissioner is always right and its an iterative process.

a tweaking we will go...
Thats tweaking not twerking!
Lovely to se warwick starting and the car looks very cool.. silver is a hard colour to do, Im sure this will be superb..
The beach scene has had a couple of hours and is looking closer to finished... just some more tweaking of the trees and apply the glazing to go...
and redo the dratted blue AGAIN! (although the photo and the photoshopping has accentuated what is not really that bad...)
Now off for a few games of Magic this arvo...

D'ats a nice car...
I was intending to start work on the RNZAF C130H Hercules but the scale of the task became a little daunting so I thought I would try something a little less terrifying. So, something for my daughter, Megan - a silver Datsun 240Z, probably the best design of all of the Z cars...
This will essentially be a monochromatic drawing, except that nothing is ever black and white. The chrome wheels have lots of blues and greys and there will be the odd splash of colour - mainly orange for the indicatiors.

mostly armless..
good progress this week... lots of fish and arms.
Im loving it actually... large rough areas of paint then get the small brush treatment and it starts to feel like it comes together.. Those fish were a real pain!
The trees are going to be fun.... Not!
