Toyota emerges yellow

so far so good.. good impression of a right front wheel with (I think) glowing brake disk. and interesting layers of oranges and yellows for the bonnet... But that dust is bloody tricky and needs much more work I think.

selling quite well at the moment, Catalina, Gambia, couple of Subarus and even a solent. Ive got 2 weeks left to get this Celica done before the Leadfoot festival so Im cracking on each and every evening!

Peaking in March

Sunday morning... couple of hours starting a new car pic. Im off to another motor racing festival late this month called the Leadfoot Festival. Its run by Rod Millen. He used to run a company in California called Stillen and was famous for his efforts at Pikes Peak. So Although I have done a couple of his older Rally cars before I thought id better have a Pikes Peak car ready for his autograph! So this is it.. its a Toyota Celica 4 wheel drive Pikes Peak special that now resides on Rods property here in NZ and will be on display this month.

Ive started with black as usual. I always lay down the darker colours first then overlay lighter ones. This seems to work best for machines where there are shadowed areas. Its not ALL black here tho.. plenty of browns and blues in the black to add highlights if you look close.

Cossack Completed!

Finished the Cossack Victor tonight... Hooray... might even get that Millen Celica done before March holiday! Must say for a dashed off pic the Victor looks brill. Must be the red. Red cars are always faster..

Sold a few more pints over the weekend... Turns out the 635 and DJ Mustang prints were to Mick Webb, Jim Richards engine builder who I met at Eastern Creek in 2009. Great stuff! Another Moffat Mustang too.. thats 86 I think!!  Starting to have to think of a new one for that soon!!

good week for prints! about 7 so far... very pleased I started posting auctions on aussie ebay.. the aussie drivers seem to have hit a chord there! sensible really should have thought of it ages ago but thought ebay.us would be searched by any country specific ebayers.. not so apparently!

anyway here's a Cossack Victor update... the bodywork is coming along just fine now... oranges, reds, pinks, yellows and browns...  fun.

Cossack Dance!

Commissioner picked up his Plymouth on Friday. Very pleased with the result!! might have a few more commissions from that source from him and his mates too!  Learned that the car wasnt 800hp anymore.. its been turbocharged and has methanol injection now so good for 1694hp!!!  Now THATS excessive!

Started a new re-draw of the old Jack Nazer Cossack Victor. Ive had a dashed off B&W one for ages and, although it has sold 9 prints I always felt it needed colour. So here goes!

finally completed. Took a couple of days off after Waitangi Day (New Zealand Day!) and got stuck in...
will observe it for a couple of days then seal and scan etc...
Sales have picked up again.. must be the post Christmas / New Year lull over finally.. 1 to the US and about 5 to NZ in last 2 weeks...

I DO like the tinted window look in this one tho... great stuff..
